PhD Student in Literature, Theory, and Culture at Purdue University

About me

I am a fifth-year Ph.D. student in Literature, Theory and Culture at Purdue University. I have a Bachelor and a teaching degree in English from the Federal University in Minas Gerais, Brazil, where I also acquired a Master’s Degree in Literature. At Purdue I study Literatures in English. I am interested in post-colonial literature, especially 20th and 21st Black diasporic female authors, Environmental studies, Immigration studies, and Black Feminist studies. I am passionate about reading and writing fiction.

Teaching Philosophy

In August 2017, I initiated my Ph.D. program at Purdue University, where I have had the opportunity to work in a college environment teaching English Composition, Introduction to Film Studies, and Literature courses.

I believe the biggest challenge for any instructor is having students who think they do not belong or do not need a particular course – in other words, unmotivated students.

Eva. Vanguarda

This is my first novel, and I also have short stories published in different anthologies.
